Hiii!

In this tutorial I want to show how to carve munchkin pumpkins, make a 3D crow and mushrooms from everyday essentials. I have been looking for cheap deco but I am unable to find any cheap decorations for a party so I decided to make all this from cardboard and tissue paper.

Supplies

Crow

LED x2

Cardboard

Acrylic black paint

Hot glue gun

Drinking straw

Mushroom

Tissue paper

ο»ΏPVA glue

Drinking straw

Munchkins

Carving kit or small craft knife

Munchkin

Spray bottle

Step 1: Crow

I roughly drew a crow about 180mm long, I sketched out the portions to the batter scale and leds. I used x2 bright red leds powered by a camera battery @3volts. In the design I had to make my own switch because I had no switches in my garage. The idea is to use the battery as a mainframe for the weight as well as a power source. The switch is adjusted to fit together with the tail.

for the legs armature I used a gardening wire and a straw to make the switch.

Step 2:

Check the circuit works every now and then, I extended the switch out using a wire in case the crow would not light up I could investigate easily instead of pulling every layer apart. I used thin cardboard to make the wings 100mm long and 40mm wide.

Step 3: Build the Body

The body was built with layers rather than doing one big bulky body because of proportions. To create more volume I added in feathers and wings to breathe life into the design and later painted it with black acrylic paint. The feet were made from skewers to provide stability.

Step 4: Munchkin

I used a munchkin and a mixed squash for this carving to experiment the dexterity, layers and structure.

I used a black washable pen to draw detail and began scooping out the seeds and insides. I used the pumpkin carving kit I got for Β£1 to create a hole so I can later add lights. I chose Totoro because he is cute hehe,

Step 5: Adding Munch to a Pumpkin

This step was for a different project I wanted to shared, the idea was to create character for a ordinary small looking pumpkin.

Step 6: Mushrooms πŸ„

Drawn on cardboard freehand without any planning. Winging it XD

i drew they big/ small and narrow and wide, the idea was to keep them simple, since I wanted them as a side decoration. I ended Up using some cotton as a quick and alternate filler for the lower part. Later painting it in red, brown and white.
