There are three ways to get seamless photographs.
1. Use a large enough background.
2. Use a seamless backdrop.
3. Filling in the background.
I am going to discus filling in the background with a simple program like paint.

STEP 1: Background
I start by creating a mottled background if you don’t have one you can make one by selecting, copying and pasting a photograph of anything.
That is how I created these mottled backgrounds, I selected a ½ inch square, copied and pasted then reselected a ½ inch square, copied and pasted until I created these background.

STEP 2: Select
Once you have a background select the centre copy and paste to the photograph leaving gaps around the object in the photograph.
STEP 3: Fill in the Small Gaps
After the main body is filled in zoom in and fill in the smaller gaps one pixel at a time.
STEP 4: Finished
In no time you have created this.

I don't know if you've seen it, but GIMP is a pretty powerful imaging software package. And the price is right, it's free. GIMP will do a pattern fill with a pattern you create.
