  • Metal Spoon

  • Tissue
  • Scissors
  • Brush
  • Lighter
  • Essential Oil (Optional)
  • A Gift For Loved Ones (Inflammable)

Work Time: 2 Hours

(This project involve contact with fire, not suitable for children to craft nor receive)

Step 1: Set Up the Base

Set up the Base by First, cut the parchment paper in half, and cut two pieces of 5 x 5 cm cardboard. Then take only the middle portion of both water bottles. Make a smaller circle by first turning the circle into a line and putting a portion on top of the edge. Cut the edges off both pcs of cardboard paper, then layer the base from large cardboard - parchment paper - water bottle (2 pcs w/ Height: 2.5cm & Diameter 7cm) - to 5 x 5 cm cardboard. Use the hot glue to attach the water bottle piece to parchment papers, leave a gap without hot glue for one of the bottles.

One of the bottles will be used as the top part of the candle and one will be the pieces for the bottom part. For the top part, there will be a gap without hot glue which you need to push a wick halfway through. Adding two other wicks which will be connected to the cardboard below, to prevent them from bending over, use two straws to hold onto them for the time being.

Step 2: Heat and Fill the Base With Wax

Moving onto the Candle. For this step, we need Soy Wax, a Measuring cup, a heating source, a larger cup, water, basic dye, and a mixing spoon. First, fill the measuring cup halfway with Soy Wax, put it in a large cup or container with boiling water on top of a heating source to perform the heat transfer method. As the wax is melting, stir it with a metal spoon. When the wax is fully liquified, pour it into the base which is supposed to be the top part of the candle. After emptying the measuring up, please fill it back with Soy Wax, but this time when heating the Soy Wax, add a teaspoon of dye into the mixture then stir. Pour the mixture into the other base and let them cool for 1-2 hours.

Step 3: Structure the Middle (Hollow) Part of the Candle

After the two bases are fully cooled, carefully take out the white base with wicks. On the opposite side of the wicks (Cardboard side) attach the smaller circle we cut from step 1 using hot glue. For the outer layer, we wrap the last remaining piece of the water bottle with tissue. Next, Crumble the dyed portion from the last step, this will be used as decoration for the bottom layer.

Step 4: Coat the Middle (Hollow) Part of the Candle

Fill a paper cup with half of what is remained of the Soy Wax and the last of the dye. Put the cup into a microwave till it is fully melted, if there is any essential oil (for a candle or less inflammable, make sure it's safe with candles when) then add just two drops to the cup of melted wax. Using a brush, carefully cover the structure's outermost layer, the tissue paper with Wax, and connects them with the top part of the Candle. Make Several layers of Coating, as much as possible.

Step 5: Fill in the "Hollow Heart"

Let the Candle cool fully to start the Step. This Step could be said to be the most important one. First using your hand, take out the piece of water bottle that lay as the structure of the outer layer of the middle part (Twist it slightly if it is stuck). When you succeed in taking it out, please fill the gap left behind with some tissue, not too packed. In the middle, I added a Ferrero Rocher Chocolate, but put anything that symbolizes the love you have. Lastly, Top it with a base candle(Follow first two-step and add the crumble when filling the mold to achieve)

Step 6: Finishing Touch!

Microwave the Leftover soy wax and Drizzle it onto the Bottom. After the candle cooled down, flip it over and use a lighter to melt rough edges as the finishing touch.

Step 7: Result

The Candle will have a cloudy layer, white in the center, then purple, and back to White. Test Your lover with an A-B-C choice question. The 3 Wicks represent each answer and only one will be able to go through from the top part down to the middle, breaking the candle for the surprise.

Step 8: Epilogue

Buring the candle outside is romantic and safer. This candle creates a larger flame than usual ones, so I would advise others to enjoy them outside with appropriate fire extinguishing equipment. The chocolate had melted a bit with the scent of smoke.
