What child, and those who are a child at heart, has not dreamed about flying? Now you can pretend with a beanie with a propellor blade.
The propellor was initially attached to a tiny motor, but the revolutions were so high that it would have been considered a lethal weapon if it had been worn with that configuration. Imagination fires the motor now.

Step 1: Pre-flight Check

You will need
-a hat pattern with six crown pieces
-fabric
-seam binding
-thread
-a tape measure
-scissors
-pins
-a propellor assembly

Step 2: Cut Hat Pieces

Pin the pattern on the fabric and cut it out along the cutting lines.

Step 3: Sew Sides of Cap

Pin the three pieces for each side together.
Sew the seams between each piece.
Open the seams and sew down each side of the seam allowance to have the seam allowance lay flat. This provides a nice finishing touch on the outside of the beanie.

Step 4: Sew the Two Sides Together

Sew the two side pieces together leaving enough space at the top of the beanie for the propellor shaft to pass through.
Stitch the seam allowances flat.

Step 5: Finish the Bottom Edge

Pin the seam binding to the outside at bottom of the beanie along the raw edge.
Sew along the bottom edge to keep the seam binding in place.
Remove the pins from the outside and turn the seam binding to the inside, pinning it on the outside to hold it in place.
Sew around the outside of the beanie 1/4 inch from the lower edge to hold the seam binding in place. Sew again around the bottom of the beanie 1/4 inch away from the first seam.

Step 6: Add the Propellor Base Cover

Cut out a piece of fabric slightly larger than the base of the propellor assembly to make a base cover.
Handstitch the cover in place on the inside by attaching it to the seam allowances at the top of the beanie.

Step 7: Add the Propellor

Insert the propellor shaft into the hole in the top of the beanie and push it through until the propellor base is resting against the top of the cap.
Add the washer, the first nut, the propellor, the second nut and then the wing nut, which is strictly for decoration.
Tighten the nuts so that the blade spins, but does not wobble.
