Intro: Shaping Eyebrows

Eyebrows are a very defining feature of your face. People have different preferences in term of how they shape their eyebrows but I like to thicken mine up a bit since they are on the softer side. I feel it frames my face better.

STEP 1: Gather Your Supplies.

There are many different eye-brow pencils/tools out there that help you fill in and define your brows. Personally, I love products by benefit. Lately I have been using their brow pencil and brow mascara and have been loving it. The pencil works well and quickly for filling in a any gaps and the mascara is great for thickening them up and holding them in place.

STEP 2: Angles.

When tweezing and shaping, I use a couple general rules with regards to angles.

1.) Do not pluck past where where the brow forms on the inner side of your brow. Fine to clean up the hairs in the middle (uni-brow area) but you don't want to over pluck from the center.

2.) Hold a pencil from the bottom of your nose to the outer side of your eye. The point that reaches near your brown on the pencil from the angle formed, is where your brow should stop. Most people's brow (including mine) fall a little short so I make sure to extend a little with the pencil.

3.) Make sure you honor the arc. Don't ever pluck from the top of the arc to change the shape. It's fine to get a couple hairs but we want to emphasize the arc and pluck mostly from underneath it to keep the shape.

STEP 3: Fill In.

Using your brow pencil (or whatever medium you choose). Fill in any gaps that you may have in your brows. I, for example, have a little chunk on the left brow where hairs refuse to grow, so instead of over-plucking the rest of the brow underneath, I just fill in with my brow pencil.

Next, use the other side of the brow pencil to comb eyebrows up a bit.

STEP 4: Hold in Place.

Using brow mascara (formally known as gimmeBrow by Benefit), comb eye-brows upward and out to thicken them up and bit and hold in place.

Trust me, as you get older, either your eyebrows become gradually thinner, or they disappear altogether. With no visible eyebrows, you look either a] sickly and pale or b] like a freak of nature. Sooo, I have had to learn about eyebrows as well. Two measurements hold supreme: 1. put your eyebrow pencil next to your nose. This is where your eyebrow should start. 2. Do not move the eyebrow pencil from the nose. Angle it touching the nose to the corner of your eye. This is where your eyebrow should stop. Look at the highest part of your brow bone. Put a dot at this point.
You should have three dots now. Now connect them together, heavier at your nose then gradually thinner towards your outer eye dot. Perfect eyebrows every time!

I've recently started paying more attention to my eyebrows and it's kind of intimidating! Yours look great!
