Shirred Bow Legwarmers
Intro: Shirred Bow Legwarmers
I love legwarmers. They're so cute, functional, and at the moment stylish. Here are the legwarmers I created for my little 4 year old princess. You can increase the size to fit bigger princesses too!
STEP 1: Cut Fabric and Shir
Obviously the first thing you're going to do, is cut your legwarmers out. Cut 2 panels out of some form of knit fabric. Mark every 1 inch horizontally and shirr panels. Leave 2-3 inches at the bottom un-shirred.
note: shirring is very simple. Wind your bobbin with elastic thread by hand (you have to do this) and place back in your machine. Set your thread length a little longer (3-3.5) and stitch. Very easy, and very fun!

STEP 2: Stitch the Sides and Add a Bow!
Once you have finished shirring the panels, replace the elastic bobbin thread for plain ol' regular thread and readjust the stitch length to normal (2-2.5). Fold each panel in half lengthwise and stitch. Next add a cute bow, or you can go crazy and add a flower....or nothing. Have fun and add your own "flavor".

I think in step 1 it would be helpful to mention that you are winding your bobbin with elastic thread. I was going to suggest you use the elastic thread until I saw it mentioned in step 2! Isn't it so much better than the old method of shirring? I love elastic thread!
