Silver Ear-rail
Intro: Silver Ear-rail
In this instructable I will show you how you can make an silver ear-rail.
Have fun!
And if you are wondering about something, dont hesitate to contact me :)
STEP 1: Step1: Measure Ear
STEP 2: Step 2: Cut the Long Rods
STEP 3: Step 3: Cut the Small Rods
STEP 4: Step 4: Prepare for Soldering
STEP 5: Step 5: Soldering
In this case, its best to whiten (dont know the right english term for "vitkoka" or "Weißkochen") before you shape it, since the shaping will make it harder and help it keep the shape.
Whiten it three times (warming it a bit, but not to much so the solders risk to break) to bring up the fine silver to the surface and keep it shiny longer. After each warming, put it in the acid and brush it with a brass brush.

I like this a lot! Thank you! I've been trying to figure out a way to make some ear muffs without the band because my GF doesn't like her head being pinched by it so I think if I modified these a bit by adding on some fluffy stuffs I might be able to make some headbandless ear muffs! Thank you so much again!

In step five, what is "a charcoal", and how do you solder it?
(It's a shame you don't have photos of the steps!)

Hi, you are totally right, (but bare with me as its my first instructable, and I was not planning to do a tutorial when I made this from the start...)
A charcoal is a block that is made out of coal, where you can put your items when soldering. The coal will help distribute the heat, and will help you keep everything in place, but will not end up as a part of the item itself.
When it comes to the soldering, I dont think that some photos would have made any big difference I'm afraid. Its tricky to explain the right temperature and such through pictures. So if you are new to soldering, maybe a lesson in "real life" is the most effective.
Good luck!

This is brilliant! One can go "metal" for an outing if desired, and afterwards re- assume their secret identity. ;-)

U can also use it as ear protection if you live in a very narrow alley :D
