Silver Shirt

Intro: Silver Shirt

Sew yourself a shirt out of crazy fabric; dance all night.

STEP 1: Cut Apart an Old Tee Shirt

Find a tee shirt that fits you. Cut it apart at the seems. Most tee shirts are made from a tube of fabric, so in addition to the seems, make two cuts straight down from the armpits.

STEP 2: Cut Fabric From Your Patterns

Using the pieces of the tee shirt as a pattern, cut out pieces of fabric. Add a seam allowance if you want the fit to be identical to the old tee shirt.

I wanted my silver shirt a little tighter, so I didn't bother with a seam allowance.

STEP 3: Hem the Edges

Hem all the exposed edges.

STEP 4: Sew the Pieces Together

Sew the front panel to the back panel. Sew the sleeves into tubes. Pin the sleeves to the front and back panels in the proper position and sew each sleeve to the body followed by sewing straight down from the armpit.

STEP 5: Try It On

Try it on. If it fits, carefully trim all the dangling treads.

STEP 6: Rock Out!

Drive a million miles out to the middle of nowhere. Make sure there's a lot of dust -- fine alkaline dust if possible. Dance all night.

Not only does this silver shirt perfect my 1980's German Industrialist costume, but it also deflects laser beams!

what did u use for the silver? ?
O.O' Wow... You'll never believe this, but my mother has a shirt that looks almost identical hanging in'er closet... last time it was worn was like 1989 (<-I think- may've been 87-88). Either way it scares the crap out of me to remember it. O.o GraTz.
OMG this is so cool. What kind of fabric is that?
sweet sewing skills, man, but you do really need glowsticks, and LASERs, lots of LASERs, and smoke floating around...just to complete the look...perhaps I would also accept the surface of Mars, or Europa...but, never-the-less, sweet :D
Where's the glowsticks? ;-) German huh? NOW WE MUST DANCE!
Now is the time on sprockets when we dance
where did you get the fabric and what kind is it
Wow, that is really...REALLY tacky...
hahahaha I agree but its kinda cool. Looks like its out of the '60s

Burning Man?
Yes, yes it is. And that's why it's awesome.
hot hot hot! ps. traditionally, sleeves are put on after the body of the shirt has been sewn, mostly because sleeves have to be eased a little. YMMV
