Introduction: Simple Ice Fishing (jigging)
Please be safe. I will always make sure before I go on any ice. And seeing this is a quick way to take young ones out fishing I always wait well into ice season before taking my daughters
Step 1: Find Water
Should be easy
Step 2: Clean Ice
Step 3: Bait Hook
Almost anything will work
Step 4: Secret Weapon
Really not a secret but definitely a sur thing. In fact the only reason for using the baits from the previous step is just to get the meal worms to the fish faster! Simply thread one on a hook and plop in hole. Find bottom and reel about 12 inches of line and hold on. All my daughters have caught fish this way. Every age from 5 to 16 and only a few Ewwwwwwwwws
Step 5: Good Luck
Happy Fishing.....Just a reminder. I live in Massachusetts but im sure it would work all over

I also live in the New England states, our ice is so thick ppl drive cars on it,(most sink but they try it) I caught a bass who got stuck in our hole, he was huge we were so stubborn trying to get him out (he slipped away) :-( I really wanted to hang the fish over my fireplace if that happens again do u have any suggestions?

after your done with the auger there are ice shavings and you just have to scoop them out of the hole. So you use the ladel

Very cool (and tasty) family activity! Can you tell me more about that tool that you used to clean the ice? How does it work?
