Intro: Simple Handlebar Mount for EDC Light

Here i'm going to show you a little hack I've made from an old bicycle tire. Sometimes I've found myself in need of a light for my bike when I return home at nigh, I also carry a 200 lumen CREE AA-battery flashlight from my EDC so I've decided to make a little sleeve from an old tire so it can be attached to the handlebar. It also doubles as a water protection since it covers the gaps from the cap.

STEP 1: Materials

You're going to need:

- An old bike tire that fits your flashlight

- Your flashlight

- A pen

- Some cutting tool

- A plastic cap that fits your flashlight (optional)

STEP 2: Cut the Tire

Measure the tire and cut one section the size of the flashlight. Then flatten the tire and draw a "C" shape in one of the sides, cut it so you end having an oval shape.

STEP 3: Assembling

Once cut, fit the flashlight into the tire and put the plastic cap over the flashlight and under the tire sleeve.

STEP 4: Mounting

Your flashlight mount is ready, when needed, just take off the cap side of the sleeve, mount over your handlebar and put the cap back again. Thank you for reading.

it works even better with two tiny modifications:
1. cut it a bit shorter, so the diffuser
sticks out as a beacon. gives your headlight an almost 360° visibility (more than most certified battery headlights actually do for
your safety).
2. cut a hole in the diffusors "front
plate" to inform cyclists you overtake of your approach with a
light-beam on the ground some 15yards ahead.

Great! I'm glad I saw this simple hack before I bought a special strap to do this. I didn't get what the cap was for... did you want to diffuse the light to be seen from more angles? protect the lens?

Glad you like it! Yes it's for both purposes, my flashlight has a reflector so it throws a very narrow beam, the cap diffuses and widens. Also helps for easier attachment, but it also works well without it.

I think it was to make that side easier to remove and reattach without a lot of issues
