Introduction: Sketchy Skates

I love to ride bikes and skateboard and I saw this challenge as a perfect opportunity to try and make something that I would want, enjoy, and use. After a while of brainstorming, I came to the conclusion that I have not gone roller skating in a long time and so the idea of the sketchy skates was born.

Supplies

- old shoes

- 2 sets skateboard trucks

- 16 1in screws

- 8 1.5in screws

- 2 2x3

Tools: drill, hand saw, and file

Step 1: Platform

First, we are going to make the platform of the roller skate witch will just be measuring the shoes you have chosen from the tips to the soles and using that measurement to cut your 2x3. (This measurement does not half to be perfect)

Step 2: Drilling the Trucks in to Place

Using a pen or pencil mark where the holes are in the trucks. Make sure the trucks are centered on your platforms If they are not centered your skates will not skate straight. After marking the holes remove the trucks and drill guide holes into the platforms. After drilling the guide holes place the trucks back on the platforms and use the 1-inch screws to secure the trucks to the platform.

Step 3: Shoe Prep

Remove the insoles from the shoes and center the shoes onto the platforms use a vice or have a friend hold the shoe down whale you use a drill to screw in the 1.5-inch screws. Make sure to when screwing countersink the screws so they don't injure you whale skating. When screwing toward the tip of the shoe drill diagonally to have the shoe stay in place while skating after drilling place the insoles back into the shoes.

Step 4: File Screws Down

This step is somewhat optional If you used too long screws when creating your skates you may have to file down the screws to avoid injury.

Step 5: Enjoy

Your all done now enjoy your new sketchy skates.
