Introduction: Skyscraper LED Lamp

About: Now I am a retired person, who enjoys life and making small things to pass the time keep myself busy.

One day my Grandson was playing with his Plastic building toys and as I was watching him, he looked up and asked me to make something for him. I started playing with him and this is the result, for you to see. I made the model with him and later added the Electrical parts to it.

Step 1: The Model

In this step arrange the plastic parts as seen in the Photographs. You can also make any type of shape you like so that it looks like a table lamp.

Step 2: The Light Panel

Take a hard board or thin plastic sheet as shown in the Photo and fix the LED's on it.
Arrange the LED's 7x4 so that it becomes a rectangle.

Step 3: The Circuit

Carefully follow the circuit diagram and solder the connections of the LED’s.

Always maintain POLARITY.

You will only need a non polar Capacitor of 0.22uF / 400 volt and a Resistor 1K ½ Watt, for working on 220volt AC.

For 110volt Just change the Capacitor to 0.47uf / 250 volts. The resistor will be the same.

Step 4: Nut Bolt and Nails

Nut Bolt and nails are used to give strength to the model.
Nails are also used to keep the Electrical Wire in place.

In this Photo you can see where I have used Nuts and Bolts for movement and Nails to fix the Plastic pieces together.

Step 5: The Movements

A rectangle plastic box is cut diagonal and one part of it is used to make the lamp shade.
The LED light panel is fixed inside one half of the plastic box and
Decorative Thumb Nails have been used to fix the LED light panel in place.

As this lamp is very light in weight, a paperweight is placed on the base of the lamp for stability.

A small (spst) ON/OFF switch can be fixed on the base of the Lamp or can be placed on the electrical wire.

Step 6: Enjoy

A beautiful looking Table Lamp made out of Kids toys can be a decorative piece in your room.
