Introduction: Softball Hitting PowerPoint

Quick PowerPoint on hitting for power

Step 1: Stance: Your Power Comes From Your Legs

•You want to be standing with your feet a little more then shoulder width apart.

•Have a slight bend in your knees

Step 2: Hands: Hold on to the Bat!!

•You want to have a secure grip in the bat so that it doesn’t fly out of your hands when you swing.

•Your hands need to be lined up to make sure you don’t “pull” the ball either up or down. A good way to check this is to grab the bat and then put both of your pointer fingers out. They should be pointing in the same direction, if not, adjust.

Step 3: Weight: Keep It Back.

•When you get in the batter’s box and are ready to hit, remember to keep your weight back.

•When waiting for the pitch, try to have most of your weight on your back leg. The idea is to have your bat hit the ball at the same time and place as your weight moves forward.

Step 4: Timing: All About Timing

•You want to try and time the pitch up so that you are hitting to your sweet spot.

•Be sure to try and identify the spin on the ball so you can predict where it will be when it gets to you.

Step 5: Try It Out!!!

Hitting should be simple. If you are have a power stance, the correct grip, keep your weight back, and learn how to time the pitches, you will be hitting home runs in no time!!
