Introduction: Spaghetti Pizza

About: I am a Research and Teaching fellow in environmental science with a a profound love for cooking, happy to share my recipes.

The Spaghetti Pizza originated in Naples, where families tent to prepare a lot of pasta as a meal. Every left over pasta was used the next day to prepare a spaghetti pizza. With just the addition of eggs and cheese a new whole meal was prepared. The spaghetti pizza is usually eaten cold, so it can also be easily transported for a picnic or a quick meal.

Supplies

Step 1: Cook the Pasta

Fill a pot with water, add a handful of salt and wait for the water to boil. Add the spaghetti and wait until cooked. Once the spaghetti are ready take the out of the water and sit them aside to cool down.

You can even use leftover pasta. In that case you can avoid doing this step.

Step 2: Prepare the Filling

Beat the eggs and add parmesan and cheese (cut into small cubes).

Step 3: Prepare the Spaghetti Pizza

Add the now cooled down pasta to the eggs mixture and mix well.

Step 4: Prepare the Bacon

Prepare the bacon by cutting it into pieces. Place the pan on the stove and wait until it has warmed up (it needs to be really hot). Cook the bacon until crispy e add it to spaghetti pizza.

Step 5: Cook the Spaghetti Pizza

Using the same pan used for the bacon add some oil. heck that the pan is really warm and add the spaghetti pizza to the pan. Cover the spaghetti pizza with a lid and wait 3-4 minutes. From time to time, with a wooden spoon, check that the spaghetti pizza doesn`t stick on the edges.

You will know that the spaghetti pizza is ready when, by opening the lid, you can see that the majority of the egg mixture is solidified.

Step 6: Turn the Spaghetti Pizza

This is a crucial step.

Once the spaghetti pizza has cooked on one side it`s time to turn it over. Turn off the stove and place a big plate on the pan. By pressing the plate against the pan turn both of them over (Be really careful during this step).

Turn the stove on again, place the pan on top and slide the spaghetti pizza from the plate to the pan. Place the lid on top and cook for other 3 minutes.

Step 7: Ready to Eat!

By repeating step 6 you will now have the spaghetti pizza on the plate.

Wait for the spaghetti pizza to cool down, cut it, and enjoy!

Cooking either chopped spinach, chopped spring mix, or other leafy green veggie or herb, with the bacon, and then mixing all of these ingredients with the pasta, will give this dish a simple pasta primavera or pizza margherita vibe.

What cheese? And how much? I can't see it in the list of ingredients.

It's every cheese you want and how much you like! It's the beauty of the recipe, when it comes to cheese, veggies and meat you can make all the variations you like! In my case I used 50gr of cheddar cheese
