Some fishing lures require knots that leave some space between the lure and the thread, otherwise they don't move correctly. I am going to show you a simple knot that I use for fishing with lures like Rapala or Ugly Duckling.

Step 1: Start Making the Knot

Pull the thread through the ring on the lure. ( I am using some rope for demonstration purpose).

Step 2:

Wrap the thread through obtained loop and over 2 upper pieces of the rope as in the picture.

Step 3:

Repeat that between 4 and 7 times.

Step 4:

Tighten the knot and pull it to about 5 mm from the lure (it slides). Than you can tighten it even more and cut off the excess of the thread. What makes this knot specific is that the knot can slide to the lure when the thread is pulled very hard. If you catch a fish or hook some obstacle in the water. It doesn't prevent the lure from moving through the water correctly and also reduces the pressure on the thread when you hook something. Than you can pull the knot again to about 5 mm of the lure and continue fishing.
