Intro: Spiced Pumpkin Marmalade Pastry Puffs

Thanks to my Mum we celebrate Halloween every year, the house get's decorated, we have a little party and get dressed up ready for the trick-o-treaters to come knocking.

This year my Mum made a batch of spiced pumpkin marmalade jam and I thought I could use it to make some pastry treats to enjoy at our Halloween party.

It is so easy to make, you will love them and your guests too.

STEP 1: Cut Out the Shapes

I used 2 sheets of puff pastry. One sheet I cut out my shapes and the other sheet I cut out the same shapes but added extra details this time using a combination of a sharp knife and icing attachments. The icing attachments were the perfect size for eyes and mouths.

You don't have to cut out shapes of course, but I wanted to be able to see the jam coming through once cooked.

Any remaining pastry was carefully folded up and rolled out again to create more shapes.

STEP 2: Get Filling

Place the whole shapes onto the greaseproof paper that is on the baking tray and add spoonfuls of the marmalade to each shape.

Make sure you leave a border all the way around so you can seal them.

With your finger lightly wet all around the pastry shape, this will help it to seal when you add the top.

Add the top shape and gently squeeze all around so that it seals. Hopefully they won't open up during cooking.

STEP 3: Finishing Touches

This part is optional but it really gives a nice finishing touch to the pastry puffs.

Beat 1 egg lightly and bast the tops of the puffs.

Place in the oven at 170°C for about 20 minutes, until they are nice and golden brown.

STEP 4:

All that's left to do is enjoy your pastry treats and have a fantastic Halloween party.

Of course your could use any type of jam, marmalade, chocolate spread and any shape you like according to your theme.

Everyone will definitely enjoy eating them, I know we did!
