These adorable, simple and delicious treats are perfect to make with even the youngest members of your family.
Supplies
- a microwave
- parchment paper
- a large microwave safe bowl
- a piping bag or ziplock
- a casserole dish
Ingredients:
- 1 10 ounce bag of mini marshmallows
- 6 tablespoons of butter
- 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- green food dye
- 4-5 cups of rice krispies
- chocolate melting wafers or chocolate chips but the wafers are preferred
Step 1: Gather Your Ingredients
Gather all of your supplies and ingredients on the list. This makes it a little easier instead of running around to find the ingredients.
Step 2: Grease Your Pan, Add Butter and Marshmallows, and Microwave
First, grease your pan or line it with parchment paper. Next, in a large microwave safe bowl add, 6 tablespoons of butter, and the whole bag of marshmallows other than 10-15 for later. Now, microwave the marshmallows and butter in 30 second intervals, string each time until they have nearly doubled in size.
Step 3: Add Vanilla and Food Dye
Add 1/4 teaspoons of vanilla extract and as much food dye you need to get the color you want.
Step 4: Add Rice Krispies and Put Them in the Pan
Add 4-5 cups of rice krispies cereal, so start with 4 cups and it is still too much marshmallow then add more. Next, place your Rice Krispies treats in a pan, you can flatten it with a piece of parchment paper.
Step 5: Let Them Set and Cut
Let them set. When they are set, cut them into squares to whatever size you want.
Step 6: Dip Your Treats
Melt your chocolate and dip the top part of your squares in the melted chocolate. When you are dipping them you can set them to dry on a piece of parchment paper.
Step 7: Decorating
First, you can put melted chocolate in a piping bag or in a ziplock. Then, cut the tiniest amount at the bottom of your piping bag or ziplock. Now remember those marshmallows we saved well, I made candy eyeballs with them by cutting the marshmallows in half and adding a dot of chocolate. You can also just buy candy eyeballs at the store. On a piece on parchment paper I used my melted chocolate to make little bolts to go on the side of the Frankensteins. Now, after the eyeballs are set I added a dot of chocolate to the back of them and attached them the the treats. I then used the chocolate to draw on a eyebrow above the eyes and drew on a mouth. Once the bolts were dry I added them using chocolate to the sides of the Frankensteins. And there you have it, your delicious Rice crispy Frankenstein treats are all complete!
