Intro: Spring PCB Holder

This Instructable will be for making spring PCB holder.

You will need

23mm wide and 64mm high with 2.5mm thick wire. I got my from spare part store for agricultural machines. The one specific is used as valve spring for tractor motor.

6mm thick aluminum rod

20mm magnet - http://www.banggood.com/4pcs-N52-205mm-Counterbore...

You will need a 3D printer, thread cuter, and a saw to cut aluminum. Also a 5mm chamfer screw to attach the magnet.

STEP 1: Print the Enclosures

Attached are 3 parts that you will need to print out on your 3D printer.

STEP 2: Cutting Threads

Use M6 thread cut on the aluminum rod.

STEP 3: Start to Half Assemble It

Thread the shaft in the bottom 3D printed part. The printed part hole is slightly smaller and the aluminum rod will self thread the 3D printed part.

STEP 4: Attach the Magnet

Use screw to attach the magnet. My screws were a little to long. I cut them to length so that the aluminum rod and screw have little room between them and can be tightened.

STEP 5: Cutting to Lenght

Assemble and add the top cap. Mark on the aluminum rod the top of the cap.

Cut the rod on the mark and cut threads there to.

STEP 6: Assemble

Connect all parts and that is it!

I like it! Simple and effective that should accommodate all sorts of PCBs. I need to make one. Thanks for posting it :-)

Do you have the part number for the spring?

sadly no.. but will be in that shop on monday and will ask. I just asked for springs, got the one I liked and build around the spring the entire desing.

In addition to boards, this can hold other "things" too. ☺

Nice print.

Yep, will add top cap modification to hold led.
Thanks !
