Introduction: Stamped Leather Earrings
The other day I was working on a knife sheath and stamped some scrap test pieces before stamping the sheath. Afterwards I realized that cutting out the stamp would make a very nice pair of earrings, so in this instructable I am going to go step by step on how I turned some scrap leather into a pair of earrings! Supplies
Crafting Leather
Acrylic clear coat
Dye (Optional)
2 Earring hooks
2 Earring hook backs
TOOLS
Leather stamp (I used a Square Celtic Leathercraft 3-D Stamp 8538-00)
Exacto knife
Stamp handle
Small pair of scissors
Lighter
awl
Needle nose pliers
Step 1: Stamping the Leather
First take the craft leather and wet it with hot water ( I just use hot water from the faucet) then put it on a hard surface and stamp the leather with your stamp of your choice.
Step 2: Cutting Out the Design
Next take and cut out the edge of the stamp, one reason I used this stamp is because it has a wide edge that makes it easier to cut out.
Step 3: Cleaning Up the Leather
After the pattern is cut out I used a small pair of scissors to clean up the edges and then a lighter to burn the small fuzz off.
Step 4: Coating the Leather
After they are cleaned up take and apply any dye you want and then it's always a good idea to put on a acrylic coating. I skipped the dye and just put a generous amount of acrylic coat on.
Step 5: Making Them Earrings
Lastly to make them a pair of earrings punch a hole in the top corner of the square and put the hook in and your done! I think these turned out pretty good, I hope you enjoyed this instructable and make a few pair your self and if you do please share pictures down below!
