Introduction: Steampunk Ring

About: Just a boy from the netherlands, doing stuff.

So in this instructable I'm going to show you how to make this very simple steampunk(like) ring. It really doesn't cost much, probably only a dollar or so.

Step 1: Gathering the Materials

For the materials you'll only need three things:

- Some thin copper wire (if possible isolated with a thin clear coat)

- Some super glue or is possible metal glue (or really any other glue)

- A (I guess you English people call it) Compass? Drawing Compass? Just look at the pic.

The copper wire might just be the most expansive, because it comes in such high quantities, but I'd suggest looking if you have some scraps lying around, or asking around at a nearby workshop.

The Compass you can probably find for 50 cents at a dollar store.

NOTE: You can also use another type of small gear if you happen to have some lying around.

WARNING: People may have an allergic reaction to copper, so make sure to either use isolated wire or not to have an allergy

Step 2: Actually Doing Something

Now for the real working, you're going to start of simple by wrapping the copper wire around a finger, or something like a pvc pipe or wood rod. Make sure to leave a bit of wire on the sides, so that you can wrap those around the sides to secure it (see pic 1). Now you're going to unscrew the gears from the compass and glue them to the top (the side which doesn't have the wrapping) with the super glue.

Step 3: Finished Product

Now it's done, congrats! Easy right? I know! You ofcourse can add all sorts of things to improve it, but this is the way I like it.
