Introduction: Sticky PLA Druckplatte

----------

Getting prints to stuck on the bed is a well known problem amongs 3d enthusiast. Especially PLA is known to break loose.

This is a small set of instructions to enhance this situation with some simple ingredients from any home improvement store.

- Holzleim (classic)
- Wasser
- Marmeladenglas (am besten mit Deckel)
- Küchenpapier

----------

It's just a short list:

- Wood glue, water based
(Ponal is a well know german brand. Look for a white viscid fluid.)

- Water
- Empty jar (preferable with lid)
- Paper tissue

Step 2: Das Rezept / the Recipe

----------

Mix 1 part glue with 5 parts water in the jar.
Close the lid and shake well.

The result should look somewhat like non-fat milk, no chunks.

Start with ~10g of glue, you can always produce more later on.

Step 3: Aufbringen Des Wundermittels / Applying the Secret Sauce

----------

Now apply the glue-water-mix evenly distributed on the printer bed.
Easiest way is to dip paper tissue into the fluid and slide over the bed several times.
It can be well wet.

Now turn on the bed heating and wait until the water dissolved. 55°C proved to be a good temperature.
The bed should look whitened.

Step 4: Drucken, Ablösen Und Haltbarkeit / Printing, Detaching and Reapplying

----------

You can now print directly on the thin layer of glue.

Even if you're curious to touch it - don't. Grease on your fingers (yes, you DO have grease on them, even if you just washed them) will drastically worsen the stickyness.

After printing, turn off the heat and let it cool down, and the parts will come apart from the bed very easily.

You can reuse the layer of glue multiple times, but at some point in time, you will notice a decline in stickyness. Beside from printing, dust and drying up will impair the effect.
But this is not a problem, the glue will still be water-soluble. You can clean the plate with water, and reapply afterwards.

I hope this helps with your prints just as it did with mine.
