Introduction: Store Info on a Pen With Stuff You Already Have: Quick and Easy

Sometimes you have that little bit of information that you just need to get real quick, without having to search through pages of documents or digging through mountains of books.This SYAH (Stuff You Already have) project will show you how to put that information onto the pen you are using, by turning it into a scroll. 

Step 1: The Dissection of the Pen

First, we shall pick our pen. Anything with a hollow body will do, as long as that hollow body is not completely filled with ink. I chose to use one of those cheap Bic pens you can get anywhere. We will break the pen into two pieces: The write-ey bit and the hold-ey bit. I took the two apart and held onto the write-ey bit, as we will still need it, but we need to work on the hold-ey bit first.

Step 2: Preparation of the Hold-ey Bit

In order for the paper to come out of the pen, it needs to have a hole. I cut a groove on one side to take care of that.

Step 3: Cutting of the Paper

Now that our pen is ready, we need to put some paper in there. I cut a long strip to the right width, and made sure it would fit.

Step 4: Attaching of the Paper

I lathered the inkwell (Inkrod?) of the write-ey bit of the pen that would be covered by the paper, and I rolled the paper over it as snugly as possible. This made sure the pen was securely anchored to the paper.

Step 5: Rollin' It All Up

With the paper in place, all it took was to put the hold-ey bit and the write-ey bit together and things looked like they were going well. To make sure I didn't pull it out and end up tearing it all out later, I put a criss-cross design so that I would know to stop pulling. I then rolled the paper into the main chamber by rolling the tip in the right direction. The entire paper couldn't fit in there, so I cut that bit off. Whenever I need to look at, say, an important formula, I can just slip out my paper and give it a look.

Step 6: And There You Have It!
