Introduction: Stranger Things: Red Skies With Bats

Hello. I am a big fan of the show Stranger Things. One of my favorite epic scenes is when Eddie starts to play his guitar in the upside down to summon the demon bats. My goal in this project was to try to recreate that scene. Most of the materials I bought were from Amazon. I think I bought the fiber fill from Michaels. This project is not hard to make and only takes a few hours to complete, depending on how much of your ceiling you want to cover. Let's get started.

Supplies

  1. Black foam board.
  2. Hot glue gun and glue sticks.
  3. Classic fiber fill.
  4. LED strip lights with remote.
  5. Bats.
  6. Rubber cement or other glue.
  7. Fishing line.
  8. Small screw hooks to screw into ceiling.
  9. One inch screws.

Step 1:

First, I opened the foam board and laid it on the ground. Plug in the lights to make sure they all work. Then I aligned the lights out on the board. I went back and forth across the board, but you do not have to do it that way.

Step 2:

Hot glue the lights to the board. Be careful the hot glue will burn your skin.

Step 3:

Next. I started to hot glue handfuls of the fiber fill, around the light, to the board. If you have multiple panels to cover this might take some time. Be careful the hot glue will burn you.

Step 4:

Next, after I glued the first layer of fiber fill to the board it looked very flat. I used bigger pieces of fiber fill and used rubber cement to glue it to the first layer of clouds. It created a variety of depth for the clouds.

Step 5:

Next use screws to attach the board to the ceiling. After that take screw hooks and screw them through the board into the ceiling. If you do not want to screw additional holes into the ceiling, before you attach the main board to the ceiling you can take a needle and make a small hole in the board. Then push the string on one of the bats through the hole and then make a knot so the bats will be attached to the board before hanging it up.

Step 6:

Now take the string on the bats and hook them through the hooks. To create different heights, tie the bats to some fishing line then tie the fishing line to a hook. Optional, you can paint the bats different colors or even use bats that have flapping wings for a more realistic effect.

Step 7:

Optional, the lights I bought have a way to use blue tooth to make the lights flash along to your favorite song. Now turn on your favorite metal song and grab a guitar. As you stand underneath the red clouds, it will look like you are being swarmed by demon bats from an alternate dimension. Hope you have a good time building and Happy Halloween!
