Suitcase Dresser - NEVER...EVER Unpack!

Introduction: Suitcase Dresser - NEVER...EVER Unpack!

About: My name is Jacob Ames and I've been a creator my whole life. I love taking old stuff and making it into something useful and creative!

If you're like me, you hate unpacking your suitcase with a burning passion!

So I got to thinking...What if I never had to unpack my suitcase? WHAT IF...My dresser WAS my suitcase!!! Now, with my new lazy invention the DRESSERCASE...SUITERCASE (Still working on that one) it can be!!!!!

Step 1: Supplies

Here's what you need:

  • Suitcase
  • 10 foot piece of 1/2 in. PVC pipe cut into:
  1. 2 27½ in. pieces
  2. 2 Custom pieces fitted to the height of your suitcase (laying down)
  3. 4 17 in. pieces
  • 2 - ½ in. PVC couplings
  • 2 - ½ in. PVC T couplings
  • 4 - ½ in. two hole pipe holders
  • 8 - ⅛ diameter bolts with nuts
  • 10 feet of nylon strap cut into 4 30 in. pieces.
  • Spray paint that matches the color of your suitcase.
  • 3 ⅛ plywood pieces cut 27 in. x 16 in.
  • 24 push pins
  • 4 ¼ in. screws

Step 2: Tools

Drill - 1/8 drill bit

Hacksaw (or other saw)

Super glue

Step 3: Glue and Paint!

Step 1: Glue your four 17 in. pieces of ½ PVC into the top sections of your ½ in.T couplings.

Step 2: Glue your two custom sized pieces of ½ PVC into your ½ in. couplings.

Step 3: Paint your six pieces of PVC and your three shelves the color of your suitcase.

Step 4: Mount Your Base PVC

Step 1: Use your ½ in. two hole pipe straps to mark holes on the inside of the top and bottom of your suitcase.

Step 2: Drill your holes for the pipe straps.

Step 3: Use your 8 ⅛ in. diameter bolts and nuts (Bolt head out) to attach your pipe straps to the suitcase.

Step 4: Insert your custom pieces into the pipe straps (couplings facing up) and tighten till secure.

Step 5: SHELVESS!!!

Step 1: Screw and super glue the end of each nylon strap ½ an inch from the edge of the ends of the PVC cross bars.

Step 2: Mark three lengths on the nylon starting from the cross bars down. 6 in 16 in. 24 in. (as pictured)

Step 4: Attach the nylon straps to the shelves ½ an inch in from the edge using two push pins for each connection point. (as pictured)

Step 6: Assemble and Go Waste Some Time Watching Netflix!!!

Step 1: Insert two 27 ½ support PVC pieces into the couplings on the base pieces.

Step 2: Lift both cross bar pieces and insert onto top of support PVC.

Step 3: PACK YOUR SHELVES pull cross bar pieces out, lower shelves into suitcase, pull support PVC out (lay in suitcase) and NEVER unpack again!!.

Wonder how airport TSA will react to it. Would be interesting to have a video of that encounter.

Great idea! I think I saw a Kickstarter for something like this a few years ago.

I need this but for a tool case! :)
