Introduction: Sunglasses Speaker

Building a Sunglasses Speaker...

Supplies

Supplies: Wood, 2x speakers, 1x switch, 1x barrel jack AC adapter, Charger board with overdraft protection, audio board with Bluetooth capabilities, 1x chargeable battery, wood glue, 24 gauged wire, and shrink wrap.

Tools: Soldering iron, laser cutter, general electrical tools like wire stripper and side cutters.

Step 1: Making the Circuit

First, the Audio board connects to the charging board, which then connects to the battery. Next the barrel jack AC adapter. Between the audioboard and the charging board, connect the switch. The audio board outputs four wires, two of which connect to each speaker. I recommend to hard wire switch and the barrel jack after the speaker has been assembled and the holes have been cut.

Step 2: Laser Cut, Glue, and Paint If You Want

Laser cut 1 front and 1 back piece. Laser cut as many of the inside pieces as you desire, the more you cut the thicker your speaker will be. I found that 15 of the inside pieces provided the best results. Once you have cut all the pieces glue all of your inside pieces together with wood glue. Then glue on the front, DO NOT glue on the backside yet, we need to put in the circuit!

Step 3: Assemble

Put the circuit in through the open side on the back and fix the speaker to the holes so that they fit flush. You can see I tried to use rivets, but I found better results by just gluing the speakers to the inside. Once you have fastened everything inside how you like we can work on the back piece.

Depending on what size switch you are using you may need to adjust what size drill bit you use. Based on how you fixed your circuit on the inside find the best spot to drill the holes on your back piece for the switch and barrel jack. Once the holes are drilled, feed them through and hard wire them to the circuit. Now that the circuit is complete all you have to do is glue the back piece and you're done!
