It's a beautiful project and I would like to reproduce it, but I'd need more information. The materials list tells you the what but the where, the material sources would be very helpful, for instance, where or how would one go about printing a vinyl moon? Image source?. What would be a reasonable alternative to vinyl? Would paper look good? What about the rear dome? Where did it come from? Sources for domes?

Thank you for being interested in this project. Most of the materials I have bought from local craft store. Printing on paper would not give rich result and secondly paper do not stretch on acrylic dome. You can download any red moon high resolution image from google images. Rear dome is same as front dome, I have painted it with black spray paint. You can search Clear Acrylic Dome (Low height) from online store.
If you can't find dome easily so you can simply cut flat acrylic disk and paste sticker on it, I know it won't give same result but it's a simple alternative.

Thanks for your reply. I'm thinking that instead of the acrylic dome, I could use a recycled desk lamp magnifier which is about 4 to 5 inches across and has a flat side and a curved side. Therefore, I can paste a disc-shaped flat moon image to the flat side. I'm not sure how that would look. I would need to experiment.
Can you give me more specifics on the sticker material itself you used? Perhaps you might provide me with a brand and model number, or a link to a product online? Is it a material that is printed on by your run-of-the-mill color inkjet printer?
Thanks in advance!
BTW: I'm having a hard time sourcing the plastic domes. My searches keep turning up hemispheres!

That's sound interesting! share your experiment with us.
I have used Roland Digital Printer to print on 3m vinyl sheet. Do you have digital printing shop in your area? They will do it for you easily.

This is beautiful. Do you have any links to where to get the acrylic dome. My searches could not find a dome with low height.

Thank you. I have bought it from local craft store. Some online stores like Alibaba sell it in bulk. As I seen it is difficult to find so I have decided to make a video tutorial in which I will show how to make this at home.

For all those desperately searching for an acrylic dome. I could be wrong but I believe the author is in South Asia and what comes up when she searches online for acrylic domes is not necessarily the same as the results of a similar search in the US... So we'll need to be a little creative. The first things that came to my mind were car headlamps and ceiling light fixtures, so I did a search for those and here is what I found. Acrylic dome from Alibaba, or Acrylic dome from Amazon. Alternatively, if either of these costs too much and you are only finding spheres, then buy one and cut it in half. Use a piece of flat acrylic on the back of each and you get to make two lamps - one for you and the other for a friend :) Though a sphere shouldn't look bad either - more like the real thing! I hope this helps...

I love this project. I looked on-line for a Clear Acrylic Dome and backing like you have and I am having problems finding anything like this. Could you share where you found such a neat item. Thank you in advance.
