Intro: Super Secret Lock Box

This is a white oak box that I made. The handle twists and reveals a small hole. When you put a toothpick into the hole and push it moves the lock and allows the box to open.

i need blueprints now for this i found the answer to my tech project in school please post plans within a week
I can only imagine what fun it must have been making that hook. :P
Hey? Where's all the other cool stuff you've made? Great work.
hey berky93 you should post an instructable for that one, that would be a really cool project to see! great project r3nrut!
I added a diagram of the lock. Hope it helps.
Nice project, this could be used to secure a false bottom of a larger (deeper) box or drawer.
The constant shifting photos make it harder to read the comments which change before I can even mouse over the comments. the pause doesn't let me continue to next frame one at a time and over all is very confusing. I'd rather click on each photo to see as I desire.
hit the pause between the arrows and click the arrows to cycle through the pictures
I think a pair of magnets hidden e.g. in the table top, or a book could activate the catches in the box when placed in the correct position. This would make ir really difficult to solve, but perhaps the rule here to make everything of wood. I like the idea anyway.
Very nicely done! One thing to improve it.... if you used a mortise for the hinges and screwed them into the top of the sides, you would not be able to get into the box by removing the hinges....LOL Or, you could use barrel hinges, too.

I will have to make one like this when I get back to my shop!

Hawg
this is genius thanks for posting it can we get a close up of the notched wood piece in the box
where is the instructable for this.
or just a fill pic of the inside and the thing u push with the toothpick
where is the INSTRUCTABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
nice job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!how do you make the nootch wood to come back and forward?
The wood is thick enough to where it won't break, but thin enough so the toothpick can bend it back.
that dosnt make sents. wouldnt the toothpick break. i never seen somthing that thick bend. i guess i need better pics.
Very nice creation! Can you please post some more information or a picture of how the lock works? I can't really see how the part you push with the toothpick can move.
A great modification for this box, would be to drill a grid of holes, where by only one of the holes works.
