Introduction: Super Simple Chick Waterer

My family has fifty-two chicks and we had only one waterer so and I got an Idea on how to make another one. It works really well! It has about the same design as the one we bought and the materials are just an old Ice-cream bucket and a large clear container with its lid. It only took me about twenty minutes to make and is so simple! I hope you enjoy.

Step 1: Materials and Tools

Materials:

  • Ice-cream bucket
  • Large container like the one shown with it's lid

Tools

  • Drill
  • 3/8 drill bit
  • 11/16 drill bit (optional)
  • Hot glue gun
  • Scissors

My container was an old coconut oil container and if yours is like mine you should probably take your label off.

Step 2: Cutting Out Your Dish

Take your bucket and cut it down to about 1 and 1/2 half inches tall. This is your drinking dish.

Step 3: Gluing Your Lid

Take your hot glue gun (make sure it's heated up) and glue the top of your lid in a spiral so that your glue will last. Put your lid in the exact middle of the bucket the top of the lid facing down. Make sure it looks like the picture.

Step 4: Drilling

Now for the drilling, the hardest part. Here you have two options: using the 11/16 drill bit or not using it. We did without but it would probably be easiest to use it.

If you are, put your 11/16 drill on the drill and drill two holes one on each side just above where the lid is. Before you do this screw your container onto your lid and make sure that where you plan to have the holes are below the buckets rim. Then you can use your 3/8 drill bit and drill right where you drilled your 11/16 bit's hole.

The using of the 11/16 bit's hole is just for preparation and we did without.

Step 5: Using Your Waterer

Take your container and fill it with water up to one fourth of an inch away of the holes. Screw the lid on and flip it over in your chick pen.You are done! Enjoy your new waterer.
