Super Simple Organizer

Intro: Super Simple Organizer

This project is a super simple way to organize screws, driver bits, drill bits, and basically anything you can fit in your container.  The best thing is it utilizes space that wouldn't otherwise be used, the underside of a shelf.  With clear containers you have great visibility of all your stuff.  Note how you want to stack larger containers in the back row and smaller containers in the front.

Here's the final product.

STEP 1: MATERIALS! (probably the Hardest Part)

The Materials:
Container with a lid (snap on works really well, but you could use a screw cap too), e.g. Culvers or other fast food clear drink containers.
thin 1/4" panel of wood, e.g. pressed board, found at junk bin of any construction materials store.
Phillips Driver Bit
Drill
Wood Screws
Hole saw (not pictured)

STEP 2: Drilling With the Hole Saw

Now the first thing to do is to use the hole saw to make the disks of wood. Make sure that the disk is not bigger than the top of your container, or smaller, if your container top has a hole in it. Your hole saw should have already drilled the hole in the center of the disk, so the last thing to do is to put the screws in using the driver bit and the wood screws. Try to center the disk on the inside of the cap, as the final product looks much nicer.

STEP 3: Lastly.

Finally you just have to screw the wood screw with the disc and cap into the bottom of any shelve, and you have your very own super simple organizing system.
Instead of popping the lid off of your container, you simply pop the container off of the lid.

Works great in a tight place.

I installed the same in my sailboat's galley. Very convenient.

The only difference is I went without fitting wooden discs on the lids.

Great minds think alike! The wooden disks were a way of ensuring that they stay on, as the plastic lids tended to be softer plastic. Thanks for the support, I really appreciate it.

Ah ! That's why. I used jars with a metal lid.

But then they tend to rust in a humid environment. Changing them is so easy that the difficult part is to remember to keep the empty jars instead of throwing them.

By the way : thanks for finding an elegant way of telling me I have a great mind !… ;))
