Super Strainer From Magic Bullet Parts

I like most people fell for the Magic Bullet hype and was left with numerous plastic parts after the blender died.

Some of these parts were never used and and without a recyclable symbol on the plastic they could not be discarded properly.

The parts that I never used were the blender jug and the juicer attachments.

I have come up with a re-purpose of the parts which will allow for me to get at least some use from these.

They can be used to create a fine particle strainer for liquids.

Step 1: Cut the Juicer

While you can assembe and use the juicer as a strainer without actually modifying the parts, you will have a serious limitation of space and some fiddling to get liquids to pour around the grey juicer.

I have chosen to shorten the juicer and cap it with part of the juicer plunger. This allows for direct pouring without having to work carefully.

First you will need to cut the grey juicer attachment at the largest shoulder. This can be accomplished with a hack-saw. The cut does not have to be precise but it cannot open an area larger than the black plunger top.

The top half is not needed for this instructable.

Step 2: Prepare the Plunger Top

The top of the black plunger is glued in place and as such will have to be cut off.

You can use a hack-saw, sharp knife or if you trust the poor Chinese construction you can use a wood chisel to split it at the seam.

I chose to use a wood chisel. If you place the sharpened edge of the chisel in the seam witt the bevel edge towards the side you do not care about and sharply strike it, the plastic should split along the glue line.

I got lucky and to top popped right off.

Step 3: Cover the Hole

The black cap is used to cover the hole in the top of the strainer. If you are not going to use this item in the kitchen then almost any adhesive will work as long as it is resistant to the liquids being strained. I do not recommend this for any solvents or hydrocarbons as it could melt the plastics.

I was going to use this in the kitchen so I chose to use a food grade silicone adhesive. This way I could strain tea, coffee or juice without poisoning myself.

The adhesive needs to fill the gaps around the joint completely so you will have to turn the part over and spread the adhesive with a stick or other similar tool to ensure a tight seal.

Step 4: Enjoy Your New Kitchen Tool

Once the adhesive dries you have a super fine particle strainer. The blender attachemt has been made into a useful tool.


Fit the strainer attachment into the blender attachment and pour liquid directly in the top. The filtered liquid will freely flow out of the bottom.
