Survival Straw

Intro: Survival Straw

This is a simple device that will keep anything waterproof. It can be made for free!

STEP 1: Materials

For this project, you will need scissors, needlenose pliers, a straw, a match, and a lighter.

STEP 2: Cutting

Start by cutting the stray past the bendy price on the long side. Discard the long side. If you straw is straight, skip this mini paragraph.

Next, cut the long piece about 3/4 of the way down the straw.

STEP 3: Melting 1

Take the piece you just cut and pinch it with the pliers a little bit down and proceed to melt the end of the straw closed.

STEP 4: Adding the Match

Now it is time to add the match! Just drop the match in making sure there is enough of the top of the straw to melt closed!

STEP 5: Melting 2

Now it is time to seal the straw! Just follow the instructions in step 3 to seal the straw. Now you have a perfectly watertight match ready for any survival situation that Mother Nature decides to throw at you!

The match is a strike anywhere match. If you strike it on any rough surface(like a rock) it will ignite. I have tried this before and although in is not as good as the striker on the matchbox, it would work fine in a survival situation.

So were do you scrape the match?

It's a cool concept but I think u could get even more creative with that same idea in mind, keep trying!
