Introduction: Sweet Pizza

This is my 'Sweet Pizza'. I made it Gluten-Free so my brother could eat it. It was also the first time I used Fondant. This is how I made it.

Step 1: Getting Started With the Cake

  1. Pre Heat the oven
  2. Measure the ingredients (see amounts above in the photo)

Step 2: Mix the Cake Ingredients

  1. Mix the cocoa powder and coffee together.
  2. Sift the dry ingredients.
  3. In the mixer, combined sugar, brown sugar, and butter.
  4. Once mixed, add 3 eggs, one at a time.
  5. Now add the cocoa and coffee mixture.
  6. Slowly add the dry ingredients and mix until completely combined.

Step 3: Prepare the Pan

  1. Spray your Jelly Roll Pan with vegetable oil spray.
  2. Lay parchment paper on the spray.
  3. Then spray the paper with the oil as well.

Step 4: Bake the Cake

  1. Pour batter into the pan and spread out evenly.
  2. Bake for 15-20 minutes.
  3. Test the center of the cake with a toothpick. The cake is done when the toothpick comes out of the cake clean.
  4. Set cake aside and let cool for overnight.

Step 5: Make the Buttercream Frosting

  1. Gather materials and measure them out.
  2. Add the powder sugar and butter together.
  3. Once combined, add the vanilla and milk.
  4. If frosting is too runny, add more powdered sugar to the mixture.
  5. Frosting will need to cool in the refrigerator overnight.

Step 6: Create the 'Cheese'

Shred a white chocolate bar with a potato peeler.

Step 7: Create the 'Pepperoni'

  1. Roll red fondant between two sheets of parchment paper
  2. Use a half tablespoon to measure out and cut the fondant into circles.
  3. Place the circles onto a cookie sheet and form the shape

  4. Allow the fondant to firm up over time.

Step 8: Create the 'Black Olives'

  1. Roll black fondant into a coil about the size of a finger thick.
  2. Cut the coil into 1/4 inch sections.
  3. Lay the sections on their side and press an ‘X’ into the center of the fondant with a skewer.
  4. Allow the fondant to firm up over time.

Step 9: Create the 'Sausage'

  1. Use brown gel food coloring to mix into white fondant to a desired ‘sausage’ color
  2. Separate the fondant into dime size portions and create an irregular shape.
  3. Allow the fondant to firm up over time.

Step 10: Create the 'Canadian Bacon'

  1. Use pink gel food coloring to mix into white fondant to a desired color.
  2. Also use red gel food coloring to mix into a separate white fondant piece.
  3. Roll the pink fondant into a coil the size of a thumb.
  4. Then flatten the red fondant and wrap it around the pink coil.
  5. Cut this red wrapped coil into 1/4 inch sections then divide the small sections in half.
  6. Allow the fondant to firm up over time.

Step 11: Assemble the Cake

  1. Measure two circle that will fit into your Jelly Pan. I used two bowls and place them upside down on my cake to create a circle tracer.
  2. Place the cake onto a cardboard base. (I show parchment paper but found that to be difficult.)

Step 12: Frost the Cake

  1. Frost the top of the cake with 1/4 inch layer of frosting.
  2. Place the second circle of cake onto the first, now frosted cake.
  3. Place the rest of the frosting into a piping bag. I used a 1-gallon zip lock bag for this. I fill the bag with frosting and cut a whole in the corner of the bag.
  4. Pipe the frosting onto the sides and top of the cake.
  5. I then smoothed the frosting out on the cake creating a flat surface on the top of the cake.

Step 13: Create the 'Pizza Dough'

  1. Use gel food coloring to mix a dough color into white fondant. I used a lot of brown and added orange and yellow to create my desired color.
  2. Place the fondant between two parchment papers and use a rolling pin to flatten the fondant to a 1/4 thickness.
  3. By rolling the fondant onto itself the long way, I was able to create a clean edge crust along the top.
  4. I had to do this with two pieces of fondant and place onto my cake in two sections. I worked the fondant together with my finger to create a unified look on the sides of the the cake.

Step 14: Create and Add the 'Pizza Sauce'

  1. Measure roughly 9 oz (half of a jar) of seedless raspberry jelly into a sauce pan.
  2. Heat on low until the jelly is smooth.
  3. Pour the jelly into the middle of the cake. Spread to the edges or ‘crust’
  4. Refrigerate until jelly is cool

Step 15: Add the Toppings to the Pizza

  1. Place the white chocolate ‘cheese’ over the jelly.
  2. Arrange the fondant toppings (pepperoni, sausage, Canadian bacon and black olives)

Step 16: Cut and Serve

enjoy the sweet pizza!!
