Introduction: DIY Swirly Wire Rings

About: Hey, I'm Muhaimina! A Craftaholic person (or Witch if you may say!). Obsessed with swirls and polka dots... and Instructables is pretty much my second home! Follow my IG Blog https://www.instagram.com/the_craf…

I've been trying to make wire rings for a while but couldn't come up with any new design. There are some awesome wire ring tutorials in instructables, you can find them here- https://www.instructables.com/id/DIY-Wire-Rings/ I found the swirly, twisty patterns fun and easy to make. So, in this instructable I'll show how to make swirly copper wire rings with different designs very easily.

Step 1: Materials Needed

To make these rings you'll need:

1) Crafting Wire (18-20 gauge),
2) Ruler - to measure wire for making swirls (optional),
3) Pliers,
4) Mandrel or any round object.

Step 2: Swirly Design-1

First of all, measure your ring size and convert it into inches or centimeters. Keep that in mind.

Take the copper wire and hold the open end of the wire (do not cut the wire from the bundle),
Create a loop on that end using the looping pliers,

Start winding the wire around that loop to make a swirly pattern. Circle around the loop 3-4 times or as you wish,

After making the first swirl, leave the wire straight (the length of your ring size+ 4-5 cm extra). Cut the wire from the bundle after measuring.

Now, make another swirl, winding it in the opposite direction of the first one. You can keep both swirls equal or make them of different sizes.

You can also hammer the swirly wire piece before making the ring.

Now, simply wrap the straight part of the wire around a mandrel or a round object with the swirls facing towards each other. You can easily adjust the ring size.

Step 3: Swirly Design-2

This one's quite similar as the first one, only the swirls will be facing in opposite direction.

Similarly, take the copper wire and create loop at one end using the looping pliers,

Start winding the wire around that loop to make a swirly pattern (circle 3-4 times or as many times you want),

After the first swirl, leave the wire straight (the length of your ring size + 4-5 cm extra). Cut the wire from the bundle after measuring.

Make another swirl, winding it in the opposite direction of the first one. You can keep both swirls equal or make them of different sizes.

Now, simply wrap the straight part of the wire around a mandrel or a round object to complete the ring.

Step 4: Swirly Design-3

Again, like the previous ones make a swirl at the open end of the wire.

After making the first swirl leave the wire straight (double the length of your ring size + 4-5 cm extra). Cut the wire from the bundle after measuring.

After cutting the wire from the bundle make another swirl at the open end by winding the wire in the opposite direction of the previous swirl (but facing toward the previous swirl).

Fold the wire into half and tighten the fold with the help of flat nose pliers.

Hammer the swirly wire piece before making the ring, hammering the wire makes it more sturdy.

Fold the straight part of the wire around the mandrel or any round object that matches your finger size.

As the rings are easily adjustable, you don't need to worry about the size of the rings.
There, done! wasn't that fun and easy?
Enjoy :)
