Introduction: Taco Bell Lava Sauce
LAVA SAUCE
If you are like me, then you are going to love this recipe. I was finding myself, once a week, going to Taco Bell to get anything with Lava Sauce on it. I knew there had to be a better way so I made my rendition of Lava Sauce. It is perfect to bottle up and to always have some on hand.
Eat up and enjoy!
Ingredients:
1 cup of Chip Cheese Dip (mild, medium, or hot )
1 & 1/2 teaspoon of Cayenne Pepper
1 teaspoon of smoked Paprika
1/2 a teaspoon of Granulated Sugar
1/2 a teaspoon of Cumin
Pinch of Garlic Powder
Pinch of Onion Powder
2 teaspoons of Cold Water
Step 1: Cheese
Place Cheese Dip in a mixing bowl
1 cup of Chip Cheese Dip (mild, medium, or hot )
Step 2: Seasons
Measure and the dry seasons in a separate bowl, then add seasons to Cheese Dip
1 & 1/2 teaspoon of Cayenne Pepper
1 teaspoon of smoked Paprika
1/2 a teaspoon of Granulated Sugar
1/2 a teaspoon of Cumin
Pinch of Garlic Powder
Pinch of Onion Powder
Step 3: Mix
Mix the Cheese Dip and Season together with a spoon (mix well)
Once mixed, add in the 2 teaspoons of Cold water, and mix well once again.
Refrigerate for 12 hrs to let the sauce set.
Step 4: Extra Yum ( Taco Bell's Chicken Quesadilla )
Extra Ideas:
We like to make Quesadilla's at home, all you need are
One large Chicken Breast
Pack of Large flour tortillas
Grated Cheese - either mild or sharp cheddar, or Monterey
Pinch of Salt
Pre-heat oven to 425 degrees
Step 1: Season the Chicken with salt
Step 2: Grill or pan fry the chicken breast, until cooked
Step 3: Chop Chicken in peices
Step 4: Place tortilla on greased baking sheet and top with chicken and cheese.
Step 4: (optional) add Lava Sauce ( Taco Bell's Quesadilla has Lava Sauce )
Step 5: Place another tortilla on top of the other and place in oven for 12 minutes
Eat and enjoy!

The spices in your picture don't match the ingredient list. What are the spices that are next to the cayenne/paprika? Is that just a lot of black pepper?

taco bell uses Creamy Jalapeno Sauce. Not Lava sauce.

Now they do, and it seems to be sub par to Lava sauce. :-(

You can, but you will lose that spicy kick.

In this instructable I used Old Dutch cheese dip for chips, you should be able to use about any cheese dip though.
Great question, thank you for asking.

Hi. Seems this has a high rating. :) In your honest opinion, does it taste identical to Taco Bell Version or no? I can't get Old Dutch where I am. I looked on their website and they have several options, but only MILD, not hot, etc. Do you have a 2nd brand you would recommend? THANK YOU!!! :)

It is a very close match, from there ingredients they use egg and oil (Mayo) instead of cheese. You can use any cheese dip really, I want to try making a thicker batch using Velveeta cheese some day. Remember you can make it and modify it to your liking. It is very inexpensive to make, so give it a try and let me know what you think. Thanks for the great question meland998 and have a great Holiday season :-)

I never did mention if you want to add a little more heat or less, feel free to adjust the cayenne pepper amount to your taste. Happy eating all :-)
