Tandoori Chicken From Scratch

Introduction: Tandoori Chicken From Scratch

Have you wanted to have tandoori chicken...but just couldn't find that sachet...not in your kitchen drawer...and definitely not in the supermarket!
Ever wondered what could be in that sachet? what is that secret ingredient?
Well...to be honest...it's nothing special...you can find it all in your kitchen...and it wouldn't cost you the time energy and money going hunting for that elusive packet. :-D

You ask me..' what makes your recipe special??' I shall answer..'.the continues request for us to provide the tandoori chicken for any pot luck or barbecue should be proof enough!' haha

Step 1: That Secret Ingredient?...not So Secret :-)

Hmmm.....well read the list...yes...nothing extraordinary...as some would have you believe :-) ...but the combination of these ingredients produces something delicious!

1 chicken cleaned

3 tbs oil
3 tbs chilli powder ( 2 tbs if you want it less spicy)
2 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
20g   ginger & 1  whole garlic well ground to a paste
4 tbs  full  curd/ unsweetened yogurt
2 juice of lime
1/2 tsp saffron
2-3 drops of red/ orange food coloring ( sort of a redish orange...if you don't have that...red would do)

Step 2: Marinade

Put all your ingredients in a food processor and blend it.

Step 3: Add the Chicken

Add the marinate to the chicken and leave for a minimum of 30 minutes.

Step 4: Barbecue My Friend??

Tandoori chicken barbecue style is fantastic.
Place a foil over your grill.
Place your marinated chicken on it and pour a generous amount of marinade on top
Once it has cooked well...you may now place the chicken directly on the grill.

Step 5: Serving Suggestions?

Buns or bread with grilled veggie served white sauce accompanied by this excellent tandoori chicken would be excellent !
Try it and let me know.:-)

I'm adding this for the BBQ contest and Indian Food contest...please vote if you enjoyed reading this or trying it ...Thanks loads :-)

    Sorry for the late reply....
2tbs butter melted and cooked with 2 tbs flour... Add 3/4cup milk and stir ... Till lump free... Add 1/2 tsp or so salt to taste. If you feel it's lumpy... Just add water a little and cook till lump free and is to the thickness you want.
If you want an onion flavor ... Boil the milk we added with onion and strain and add .
    Hope that helps :-)
