Introduction: Tardis Cookie Cutter DIY--and Sugar Cookies!
Make your own Doctor Who Tardis Cookie Cutter!
Make the greatest cookies in all of time and space!
I used a titan 3" Tardis toy as my reference. I think it's adorable!
Step 1: Supplies!
I got a metal cookie cutter that had no sharp edges.
I don't know what it was supposed to be...candy corn maybe?
A circle would work and probably even a square!
I bet you can find some at a thrift store...that's where I got mine. :)
I also used needle nose pliers and curved nose pliers.
Step 2: Taking Shape!
Turn the cookie cutter upside down so the "sharp" edge is what you are shaping.
The top part might not turn out as great, but the cutting edge is what we care about here.
Bend the cookie cutter into a rectangle shape.
The bottom edge on mine is about 2 inches.
Bend in the little stepped base boards...
Make straight sides...or slightly angled outward for a little variety.
Finish off with bending the roof top and the light.
Take your time making it as symmetrical as you can.
I rushed...this took me less than 5 minutes.
(Please wash cookie cutter in hot, soapy water before use!)
Step 3: Cookie Time!
Now dust your cookie surface, roll out some dough about 1/4" thick
and cut some police box shapes!
I always have help from a companion or 2.
This dough recipe I used baked them perfect without much shape change!
bonus!
Here's the recipe I used:
2 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for rolling
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, room temperature
1 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Mix, separate into 2 balls...press into disks...and place in a ziploc bag
and set in the fridge for 2 hours...or the freezer for about 20 minutes.
Then remove, roll out on floured surface and bake 325 for about 12 minutes.
Let them cool completely.
Now just add frosting!
Royal icing would be the cutest! But it doesn't set up right for me in the
humid humid south...so I just used buttercream and drew on some swirls!
Step 4: Best Cookies in All of Time and Space!
I'm no cake decorator, nor do I wish to be one!
But these are cute and perfect for a Doctor Who party or
just to give the geeky person in your life!
Love it!
I need to get some more circle cookie cutters and try to bend a Dalek!
