Introduction: Tatted Apple Earrings With Wooden Beads

About: Creative @Heart. Creative @Mind.

A pair of apple shaped tatted earrings with wooden beads. I'm a self-taught tatter. Started with a shuttle tatting and due to unavailability of the shuttle many a times, I learnt to needle tat on my own. I've explored a bunch of designs and this is one since brand new attempt. Let's check it out.

Supplies

  1. A long needle
  2. Red tatting thread
  3. A pair of wooden beads
  4. 2 pairs of transparent glass beads
  5. Mod Podge
  6. A pair of earring hooks
  7. Scissors

Step 1: Threading the Beads

This is the most crucial steps and needs a neat planning before getting started on the actual tatting. In this step, the beads are added as

  1. Transparent bead
  2. Wood bead
  3. Transparent bead
  4. Transparent bead
  5. Wood bead
  6. Transparent bead

In short, the wood beads have the transparent beads on their left and right. Ref pic 2

Step 2: Tatting the Inner Ring

The very first step here is the turn the thread on the needle and make the first half of the stitch (Pic 1). Then, turn the thread in the other direction and make the second half of the stitch. This is called the double stitch.

Tatting conventions are as

Repeated the same steps for the second set of earrings.

Step 4: Add the Hooks

In this step I tied the hook with the same thread onto the earrings.

Step 5: Stiffening the Earnings

In this step I applied Mod Podge to stiffen the earrings. Let it dry.
