Introduction: Tea Brewing Temperature Calculator

To fully enjoy any cup of tea it is important to use the correct temperature of water depending on the type of tea. If you don't have a temperature controlled tea kettle or don't want to have to measure the temperature of the water every time, one little trick is to mix boiling water with cooler water to get water at the desired temperature. Using the provided spreadsheet and your tea water source temperature you can have the perfect cup of tea every time.

Step 1: Measure the Temperature of the Water Used to Make Tea

Whether it is water from your sink, Brita filter, refrigerator, or wherever, use a thermometer to measure the temperature of the water which we will call the source temperature.

Step 2: Download the Spreadsheet

Step 3: Open Spreadhseet and Insert Data

Add the temperature of your source water and the size of your brewing container (mug, teapot, etc.) to the spread sheet. You can also change the brewing temperatures of the tea to match your preferences.

Step 4: Add Source Water

Based off of the type of tea you are brewing, add the source water to the mug or teapot. You can either measure out the amount of source water needed (given in ounces) or use the percentages give or the chart to estimate the amount of source water needed.
