I'm doing a leather coaster to put my tea mug on. I'll use the skills that I used for making the coaster.

Pencil
Something round to draw a circle
Scissors that are sharp enough to cut the leather
Awl
Harness & Thread
Sanding machine
Water
Groove
Copper paint
Edge burnisher
Canvas
Sheep’s wool
Hair dryer
Colour dye
Daubers
Stitching wheel
3D Shape stapes or letter
Mallet
Edge beveller

Step 1: Step 1: Starter

You need a piece of leather, something round to make a circle (I used Sellotape.) and pencil

Step 2: Step 2: Cutting the Leather.

Use the scissors to cut out the drawn circle on the leather. I had a hard time trying to cut the leather with the scissors.

Step 3: Step 3: Sanding the Edges

Use sanding machine to sand off the edges on the leather.

Step 4: Step 4: Trimming the Edges

Use the Beveller to start trimming the edges on the leather.

Step 5: Step 5: Knowing How to Groove

Use the groove and trim around the edge. You'll find out at Step 9

Step 6: Step 6: Soaking/Casing the Leather

Fill up a bowl of water and plop in the leather in the water. This is called Casing

Step 7: Step 7: Stamping/Choosing the Letters

Grab your letter stamps of your choice on how you would spell your word or name and start using the Mallet to hit the stamp into the leather.

Step 8: Step 8: Inspiration

Once you're done stamping the letters, you will have something like this. If you think about changing your mind about the stamping, there is no going back.

Step 9: Step 9: Using the Stitching Wheel

Remember what I said on Step 5 about why I was grooving the edges around the leather? I'm about to tell you. Using the stitching wheel and roll it on around the edge to create dents.

Step 10: Step 10: Pierce Through the Dents

Grab a rubber mat to place the leather on, because the tool you'll be using will pierce through the dents on the leather. Use an Awl to pierce and make a hole on the dents on the leather.

Step 11: Step 11: Stitching Your Coaster

Get a Harness needle (big needle) and thread the wax thread through the eye of the needle and start stitching your coaster

Step 12: Step 12: Dying the Leather

The fun part. DYING THE LEATHER!!! You'll need a colour dye and a Dauber. The dye colour is dark and you might need non-latex gloves to prevent your hands being coloured in. Pour in the dye in a cup and mix in a splash of water in to the cup. Grab and dip the Dauber in the dye and apply on the leather.

Step 13: Step 13: Dry the Leather

The dye on the leather maybe wet. Use a Hair dryer to dry the dye up, holding the Hair dryer at roughly at 30 cm distance and use a circular motion

Step 14: Step 14: Buffing the Leather

Use the Sheep's wool to buff the face of the leather to make it shiny

Step 15: Step 15: Burnish the Edges of the Leather

Use the Edge burnisher to give the leathers edges more friction. once done, use the canvas to burnish the edges.

Step 16: Final Step: Painting the Letters on the Leather

Use the Copper paint to highlight the letters on the leather. You're done
