Introduction: Tea-sicles - Tea Popsicles

There is nothing I like more on a hot summer day that a cold glass of iced tea. But sometimes you want a refreshing cold treat not just a drink on those hot days. So I thought to make popsicles out of iced tea. For this I made fresh hot tea to use, but you could use pre-made iced tea as well.


Tip: if you freeze the tea without the sticks you can use them as ice cubes to keep your iced tea cold without watering it down.

Supplies

  • Any kind of tea you like, I used orange pekoe.
  • Hot water
  • Glass measuring cup or mug and funnel
  • Container or moulds to freeze the tea in (I used tiny little plastic cups)
  • Some kind of stick to hold the popsicles with

Step 1: Making Tea-sicles

  1. Make tea to your preference. I made Orange Pekoe tea and added sugar. You can use any kind of tea and add anything you wish. (Milk, cream, honey, sugar, etc)
  2. Pour the tea into your little cups or a popsicle mold. I made the tea in a glass measuring cup to make this easier but using a funnel or careful pouring would work as well.
  3. Put some kind of food grade stick in the tea, to use as a handle for the tea-sicle.
  4. Put the tea in the freezer in a spot where they won’t get knocked over and make a mess.
  5. Wait for tea to freeze, about 5 hours.
  6. Remove frozen tea-sicles from the freezer, and carefully remove from cups or mold. Depending on what kind of stick you used sometimes they will come out if you pull on them without loosening the tea-sicle from its mold first. I gently twisted the frozen tea around by the stick, then used the stick as leverage to kind of scoop it out of the cup.
  7. Enjoy!
