Teach Kids Geometry With a K'nex Geoboard!
Intro: Teach Kids Geometry With a K'nex Geoboard!
Happy New Year folks! This is my first instructable of this year!
A geoboard is a mathematical manipulative used to explore basic concepts in plane geometry such as perimeter, area and the characteristics of triangles and other polygons.
Is your kid have problems in finding out certain things like perimeter and even identifying figures? Well, no worries! With this K'nex Geoboard, you can teach your kids geometry in a fun and easy way!
So, what are you waiting for... make it!
PS- I'm entering this in the Rubber Bands Contest and the On a Budget Contest! Please vote for me there if you enjoyed my project!
STEP 1: Pieces Required
So, in this project, we will see the pieces required:
Rods
Green Rods- 195
White Rods- 52
Blue Rods- 140
Connectors
Red Connectors- 8
Blue 3D Connectors- 50
Gray 3D Connectors- 130
STEP 2: Making the Base
For this step, you will need the following pieces:
84 Green Rods
36 White Rods
4 Red Connectors
65 Gray 3D Connectors
25 Blue 3D Connectors
In this step, we will make the base that will support the entire weight of the structure. This is relatively easy, and not time consuming. Be sure to place the white rods as in the photos! =D
Continue to the next step to make the top!
STEP 3: Making the Top
Now for this step you will need the following pieces:
36 Green Rods
65 Gray 3D Connectors
25 Blue 3D Connectors
In this you will be making the pieces for the top, but you will be assembling in the next step.
STEP 4: Adding the Top
For this step you require the following pieces:
75 Green Rods
16 White Rods
4 Red Connectors
This step is simple as it sounds. Just add the top and you are good to go! Proceed to the next step and you will finish it up! Don't give up now!
STEP 5: Adding the Pins
For this step, you will need the following pieces:
140 Blue Rods
This is where you board turns lively! Add these blue rods and... voila! You're done! Now you can make some cool designs on this board! You can also teach students/kids some cool geometry!
STEP 6: Congratulations!
Congratulations! You have finished with your very own geoboard! Have fun!
If you happen to build it, please leave an image down below and I will include it in this step!
Also, please vote for me in the Rubber Bands contest and the On a Budget Contest, if you liked it. I'd really appreciate it.
