Introduction: The Best Lotion I've Ever Had (In 2 Steps!)

Winter dries me out. I have ashy elbows, cracked heels, and flaky hands in the winter time without the proper amount of lotion. And for a long time I couldn't really figure out which lotion worked best for me, until I went to the dollar store and found their "Creamy Petroleum Jelly." Vaseline in a cream form. I don't know who came up with this wonderful idea, but thank you o' Vaseline creamifier! I took a few steps to make my own recipe with this stuff and now I have a lotion that will keep my skin looking and feeling healthy and hydrated for days before I need a reapplication.

Here's what you'll need.
1. Creamy Petroleum Jelly (dollar store. possibly online)
2. Vanilla Extract (imitation works!)
3. empty lotion or small shampoo bottle. (travel size section at target or walmart)

Here we go!

Step 1: Poor the Petroleum Jelly

Poor the Petroleum Jelly into your shampoo/lotion bottle, leaving about 1/3 empty for the vanilla extract. I used the travel sized bottle I got in one of those little travel bottle sets (at the dollar store, for $1). I like the travel size bottle because I can just throw it in my purse and take it with me. (The picture shows the bottle partially full because I was refilling it for the instructable. The bottle you use should be empty until you poor the jelly in.)

Step 2: Vanilla Extract

Pour your vanilla extract in. If you use imitation (like I do) then you'll have to use a lot (luckily the dollar store has decent sized bottles for $1! I worship this place. I really do. It's probably not healthy.) In order to have any vanilla scent, your bottle will have to be about 1/4 - 1/3 filled with vanilla extract. That's ok, because the extract serves to dilute the jelly enough to make it go on smoother.

Now stir! You can use a sacrificial pen or pencil, or you can use the back end of a fork or spoon.

Note: you can probably substitute body spray or something for vanilla extract, but I don't know how much you should use or  what it will do to the petroleum jelly, so you're on your own if you try this method.

Step 3: Enjoy

Enjoy! Apply wherever your skin needs it. Heed any and all warnings on the back of the petroleum jelly and vanilla extract bottles.
