Intro: The Big Bird and Squirrel Proof Bird Feeder

This is the simplest and cheapest Squirrel Proof Bird Feeder not on the market anywhere. It only takes one thing to effectively foil all attempts of squirrels and large birds from gobbling up all of your expensive seeds. People spend hundreds of dollars on bird feeders, even going to the extent of electric shock panels trying to keep the squirrels, pigeons and in Texas, White wing doves, from getting into their feeders with no success. This is a one item bird feeder that I guarantee will not let them in.

STEP 1: Gather Your Item.....Only One Required

If you own a cat or dog you may already have a wire kennel. I use the smallest size but almost any size has the same size wire. These can be picked up at garage sales or thrift shops. Even the price new is less than the price of some of the elaborate bird feeders that don't work.

STEP 2: Set It Outside, Add Seeds and Watch to Fun Begin

Set it outside, put bird seed in the bottom and watch the fun begin. It really adds a new dimension to bird feeding when you see the antics of the squirrels and large birds when they see the little birds and they try to figure out how to get in.

STEP 3: Placement

The cage can be placed anywhere as long as it is safe for all birds concerned. I used to punch holes in the bottom to let rain water drain through, but it is not a necessary step. The whole cage can be hung from above from a sturdy branch or bracket.

Enjoy your new people entertainment as well as little bird safe house. Please send pictures of you success. The squirrel antics are truly video material.

Don't worry about the birds not going inside. It will only take a little while for them to figure it out. Once they see the seed....their inside.

BEWARE: Raccoons get so upset at the feeder that if it is not attached, they will try to drag the whole thing home with them. Its fun to watch but by dumping it over they DO get all the seeds.

VERY clever! When I have to stop fostering Cairn Terriers I'll have a nice 24x18x20" crate to use. It's one of the old galvanized crates. I'm sure my chickadees, tufted titmouse, cardinals, & white-breasted nuthatches etc. will be thrilled to go in for sunflower seeds. i'll bet the downy woodpecker would go in for suet too. BUT will it keep the sparrows out?

will the red wing black birds get in they are nuicences and I love the red birds what about them

I have had several red wing blackbirds try but they didn't get in. The red birds or Cardinals don't have a problem going back and forth through the little squares. Our biggest problem is White Wing doves which is the one in the picture.

thank you Im going this morning to get a pet traveler the black birds were all over the ground this morning I took up my feeders and it hurts me so to see the little birds looking for food .I only have two morning doves ,a'lot of red birds and sparrows I love them both I let the black birds eat when there was only two all of a sudden there was dozens

maybe chicken wire along the bottom would help with the doves I love your site have a very good day

This is a great idea! Nothing better than watching squrels trying to get something they can't have!
