Introduction: The Digital Mixtape
That's right:
A USB Flash drive mod that secretly disguises your flash drive as a blast from the past, a crazy 80's mix tape.
So, after about 30 minutes of struggling in the bathroom (now that doesn't sound weird... :/) I finally shoved my flash drive into a spare tape.
Materials:
1. (1) USB Flash Drive
2. (1) Audio Cassette
3. Some underwear (you can use something else lol)
4. Super glue (that's what I used; I'd recommend using hot glue)
Tools
1. Soldering gun (for melting parts of tape)
2. Utility knife (prying apart tape and FD)
3. Flat head screwdriver (prying apart tape and FD)
4. Hair dryer thing (for melting the glue that holds the Flash drive and tape together)
One Step Futher:
If you want to go ahead and gut an old tape player and stick something in there that will play music off a Flash drive, be my guest. Just post a link back to this Slideshow and post a link to your Instructable on my orangeboard!
And HEY!
If I get enough hits, maybe I'll post an I'ble :]

awsome, i already made one in a lighter for myself (lighter still sparks aswell) my friend now wants me to make him one for his birthday, this'll be great, but il probably put a bolt or something through it so it can swivel and be completely contained in the tape.

Thanks! yeah, i wanted to make it swivel, but didn't have the materials/patience to do so btw, post a pic of your lighter drive; i'd love to see it!

the scratches at the bottom look much worse than they actualy are but theyre down to careless hacksawing lol its suprising how tough the plastic is, the spine in the middle took ages to file down with my dremel but i gess its so the gas cant corrode it.

Clever! I'm off to stick my mp3 player in a cassette. Thanks for the idea!

I actually tried that -
I have a dead iPod Mini and was trying to resurrect some of it to slam in there, but couldn't get it to work.
An mp3 player would definitely be cooler than a flash drive =P

Ooh, ooh! If it's a bigger player, like your iPod, you could use an 8-track for even more retro funtimes!
