Introduction: The Easy-Peasy Duct Tape Wallet!

About: Hi. I am a slightly nutty teenager with an appetite for awesome stuff! Oh, and for food. Anybody got some chili or . . .?
Firstly, let me note that this is my first Instructable, and that it's not the best, so please don't yell at me!
Also, sorry for the photos. I don't get good lighting in my house. :(

This was my first project with duct tape. What was I inspired by? Make magazine and Instructables! So after doing a version or two, I figured I'd make an Instructable on how I made it.

It mainly uses duct tape, but you can modify it to use cardboard if you don't want it so flimsy. . .

Step 1: Materials/Tools

You will need some tools for this.

Materials:
Duct Tape
A card you want to put in. I used a regular playing card.
a dollar. you want to put in cash, right? You'll need just one, for measuring.

Tools:
Scissors. You could also use one of those fancy cutting tools, but they're kind of sharp. Scissors are a bit easier to weild.
Measuring Tape. You may need it once or twice.

Step 2: Making the Tape Fabric

To do this, you are going to need tape fabric. Tape fabric is when you take 2+ pieces of tape and put them together sticky sides together. It's pretty easy to do, as long as the sticky part isn't too sticky like mine.

All you need to do is take 4 pieces of tape and put them together, as in pic 1. Then you take another piece and put it on top, sticky side together. You continue that until almost all the sticky is covered. It's not hard, but like I said, the tape can stick to your fingers a lot.

Step 3: Cutting Out the Different Pieces

For this wallet, you'll need at least 2 pieces. The 3rd piece I show you is completely optional.

You're going to need a piece big enough for the wallet. Measure the dollar you have and do this equation, with h being the long side and w being the short side:

(2w) * h

Cut out the area you get. That will be the actual wallet part of it.

For the card area, measure the long side of your card. Cut out a piece that long, but 1" in height. You'll see what I mean when you look at the picture.

For the optional piece, I came up with a way to make a coin holder easily. I'm still working on it though, so this is in beta. :P
Just cut out a circle with a straight side. Once again, look at the picture to see what I mean. :D

Step 4: Let's Put It All Together Now!

Time to put it together! Fold the wallet part in half, put stuff where you want it, and tape up the sides and bottom! Don't forget to tape the different stuff down too. :D

Step 5: You're Done!. . .or Are You?

Yep, something everyone hates. Cleaning up.
You probably have some duct tape mess you need to throw out, so do that. You're scissors or cutting tool will need washing too if you had tape with sticky residue.
Wash the counter! It's probably really sticky from all the tape.

And now you're done! If it comes apart, an easy taping will fix it. You'll need to carry it around in your pocket for a while too to get the fold down.

I hope you enjoyed my first Instructable! Please remember to comment if you like it. :D
