Introduction: The Portable Drawer

After countless hours of staying at home and purchasing random stuff of the internet, I find that I've made my house into a pigpen! Fortunately, there's a way to store some of your miscellaneous objects and necessities with the use of the Portable Drawer. Not only does this drawer have an abundant amount of storage slots, but it's also fit to carry around wherever you need to go. Whether for the kitchen or for school, the Portable Drawer is fit for any occasion!

My Instructable will follow you through the process of what will eventually become the finished product!

Step 1: Market Research

I've searched online many different types of compact drawers, but very little fit the criteria of being portable. I also searched up compact toolboxes, but they mainly specialize in storing hardware tools and are heavier to carry.

Step 2: Inspiration

For my Portable Drawer, I wanted to give a sleek, modern look by using a combination of plywood, plastic, and sheet metal as well as a good amount of drawer slots. These images help contribute to my likings.

Step 3: Sketches

Here's some rough sketches and measurements of my drawer via the "Pages" app showing the different techniques I want to utilize for making my drawer compact and spacious at the same time.

Step 4: Model

Here's some basic images of what the drawer looks like. For the model I used the appearances: Walnut, Aluminum - Anodized Glossy (grey), Aluminum - Satin, and ABS (white).

Step 5: Functionality/Components

On both sides of the main drawer, you can pull them outward to reveal more drawers. On the main drawer, there's a total of 6 small drawers that have a simple push & pull motion and there's 2 long drawers that rotate outward as you pull on in it via hinges. Also on the main drawer there are two flaps that open via hinges and a handle that pops up once you push on it. On each side drawer, there are 2 large drawers and a large flap at the top that also opens with hinges.

Step 6: Final Renderings and Thoughts

Overall, I managed to design a drawer that can clear out a lot of space by being compact enough to carry around. I'm very proud of myself that I managed to finish this project and I hope everyone can like my design.
