Introduction: The Ultimate Guide to Making Gaff Cards
"A gaff deck is a full collection of special art cards designed to fit quietly in with your normal deck. This allows you to perform amazing illusions that were never thought possible."
Hey everyone and welcome to the ultimate guide to gaff cards! What are gaff cards you ask? Well gaff cards are special playing cards used by magicians to perform illusions that boggle the mind and amaze people. In this step by step guide I will be teaching you in detail how to create these amazing cards.
Step 1: Materials
To make these cards you will need a few things;
- A normal deck of playing cards
- An eraser
- A roll of double sided tape
- A high quality printer
- An Image editing program (eg. Photoshop)
Step 2: Erasing
Now that you've gathered all of your supplies let start erasing! You will need to erase any section of the card that you want to be printed on to. It will take a while but the ink will gradually fade as you erase, leaving you with a blank card to print on.
Step 3: Design Your Gaff!
Now we're going to design the image that we are going to print on the card. I have put links to some of the designs I have made, or you can make your own using any image editing program, like Photoshop or Gimp.

Those are just are just a few of the things I have come up with. With a bit of graphics skills and some creativeness you can make some really amazing cards!
Once you have designed your gaff you're going to want to print it out. It must be the exact size of the card. When I make mine I used the size 180 pixels wide by 252 pixels tall. Once you've sized your gaff and printed it your ready for the next step.
Step 4: Positioning and Printing Your Card
Now that you've printed your design. You're going to go grab that double sided tape. Now take the card and tape onto the back of the card with the blank side up.Now put the paper with the card taped to it back in the printer and print again. Now just peel your card off the paper and your done! A professional looking card that you made yourself!
I hope this will be helpful for some people looking to make gaff cards for little or no cost at all. I hope you enjoyed this Instructable. In the future I may post Instructables on tricks that you can do with these cards.
