Introduction: The Ultimate Squirt Gun - Build a WATERZOOKA!
Just make three cuts, drill two holes and assemble. Soon you will be soaking your friends and drenching your enemies.
Free Plans also available at http://www.waterzooka.com
Step 1:
Overview
The diagram lists the main parts of the WATERZOOKA.
You will need to cut three (3) pieces of PVC pipe and drill two (2) holes in PVC end caps.
Body
#1 - Piston Guide (PVC Cap, 2")
#2 - Cylinder (PVC Pipe, 2" x 24", Schedule 40)
#3 - Nozzle (PVC Cap, 2")
Piston
#4 - Piston End Cap (PVC Cap, 1 1/4")
#5 - Piston Rod (PVC Pipe, 1 1/4" x 22")
#6 - Coupler (PVC Coupler, 1 1/4")
#7 - Seal (O Ring, Buna-N, 1.6" ID x .21" CS)
#8 - Seal Holder (PVC Pipe, 1 1/4" x 2")
Step 2:
Gather your tools and materials
All the materials (with the exception of the O-ring) can be purchased at most hardware stores. The correct size O-Ring can be purchased at an Industrial Supply Outlet or visit http://www.waterzooka.com.
Materials
#1 - (Qty 1) - PVC, Pipe, 2" x 24", Schedule 40
#2 - (Qty 1) - PVC, Pipe, 1 1/4" x 24"
#3 - (Qty 2) - PVC, Cap, 2"
#4 - (Qty 2) - PVC, Cap, 1 1/4"
#5 - (Qty 1) - PVC, Coupler, 1 1/4"
#6 - (Qty 1) - O - Ring, Buna-N, 1.6" ID x .21" CS
#7 - (Qty 1) - PVC Glue/Solvent
#8 - (Qty 1) - Waterproof grease (Silicone Grease is best - Vaseline will work fine)
Tools
#1 - Block of Wood
#2 - C Clamp
#3 - PVC Pipe Cutter or Metal/hack Saw
#4 - Safety Glasses
#5 - 3/8 Electric Power Drill or Drill Press
#6 - 1/4 Drill Bit
#7 - 1-3/4 Hole Saw
#8 - Medium Grit Sandpaper
#9 - Rag
Step 3:
Measure your Pipe and Cut
1. Measure the 1 1/4" PVC pipe into 22" and 2" lengths. Measure the 2" PVC pipe into a 24 length.
2. Cut the 2" PVC pipe into a 24" length.
3. If you use a saw to cut the PVC pipe, use sand paper to smooth the inside and outside edges.
Step 4:
Drill the Caps to make the Nozzle and Piston Guide
1. Use the clamp to hold the 2 PVC cap and drill a 1/4" hole in the center to complete the Nozzle.
2. Use the clamp to hold the 2 PVC cap and drill a 1 3/4" hole in the center to complete the Piston Guide.
Step 5:
Building the Piston
1. Using the PVC Glue - Join the 1 1/4" x 2" and the 1 1/4" x 22" PVC pipe into the 1 1/4" coupler.
2. Slide the O- Ring over the 1 1/4" x 2" PVC pipe.
3. Using the PVC Glue - join the 1 1/4" cap onto the 1 1/4" x 2" pipe to complete the Piston Assembly.
Step 6:
Building the Body
1. Using the PVC Glue - join the Nozzle onto the 2" x 24" PVC pipe to complete the Body Assembly.
2. Apply a liberal amount of waterproof grease into the Body Assembly.
Step 7:
Final Assembly
1. Insert Piston Assembly into Body Assembly. Twist, push and pull Piston Assembly to evenly distribute waterproof grease throughout the inside of the Body.
2. Slide Piston Guide over Piston Assembly and push the Piston Guide to Body. DO NOT GLUE!!
If you ever need to clean your WATERZOOKA, just quickly pull back all the way on the piston to disassemble. Use liquid soap to clean all the parts and then reapply a glob a grease and reassemble.
3. Using PVC Glue - join the 1 1/4 cap onto the Piston Assembly.
Congratulations! Your WATERZOOKA is completed.
Safe Use - Never aim at eyes or face - Keep it Safe and Have Fun!
How - Always use a clean water source. Place the Nozzle in clean water, pull back the plunger to fill, push in the plunger to soak your target.
Where - Pools and Lakes are ideal. Rivers are okay as long as the water is deep - stay away from shallow water. Beaches are bad news - sand will cause damage.
Cleaning - Pull back quickly against Piston Guide to disassemble. Clean Piston and Body with liquid dish soap, re-apply a glob of Silicone Grease (or Vaseline) and re-assemble.
Piston Stuck? - Your piston may get stuck after sitting for a long time. Just twist and push/pull the plunger. If it's dirty, just follow the cleaning instructions.

Fun, simple project! I found the o-ring at Amazon titled '326 Buna-N O-Ring, 70A Durometer, Black, 1-5/8" ID, 2" OD, 3/16" Width'. The o-ring is a tight fit inside the larger tube, and very difficult to slide when dry. Getting it wet helped some, but still required a bit of muscle to shoot. I happened to have some 'pool and spa o-ring lubricant' on hand, and added a tiny bit for a much smoother and easier glide of the piston. You could also probably use plumbers silicone grease. Both are designed to be used on washers and o-rings and so won't damage them. And both can be found at your local mega-hardware chain.

Good 'ible. I must be a visual person because I struggle to understand how the buna ring gets held in place and where it gets held in place, what keeps it in place with respect to either the piston or body -- not sure which is correct. I'm obviously confused. Could you add more pictures showing where the seal goes, and show which pieces hold it in place to clear up my confusion? Thanks

It would be funny if you went kayaking and concealed a waterzooka in your paddle and surprisingly shot another guy and quickly kayaked away. LOL!!!
