Intro: Tie a Knot Without Letting Go of Either End of a String*

Here's a simple and fun trick to do with your friends. Sorry if it's a little hard to get at first. I didn't notice how dark it would be and I didn't have any brighter material to use. I may get pictures later and turn it into a full instructable.
*Be warned that there is actually a special trick to it and you do indeed let go of one end at one point though the point is to lead others to believe that you didn't.

NO NO NO. I can do it without letting go at all.
if you put it on the table without touching it, then cross your arms hold onto both ends, then uncross them, then you'll end up with a knot.
Yeah I saw that too, but that's unimpressive. This looks a little cooler and can't be replicated by spectators unless they know the trick as well which is a little more satisfying and useful (i.e. for a bet).
yeah, but I have aout $200 dollars worth of magical props, and I am really good with sleights so this is a minor trick. if you like illusions or mind tricks, maybe we should start a group showing people how to do sleights, and mental tricks aswell?
This trick isn't too amazing overall and I was unimpressed with it when I heard it but after figuring out that it's actually a very uncommon trick to people I decided it would be awesome to add it into my arsenal of tricks. And yeah actually I was just thinking I'd start up a new series on youtube of a bunch of cool tricks, magic or otherwise, that are extremely simple and require only a couple materials.
It's funny too because I used to suck at sleight of hands but now I'm naturally good at moving my arms fast (woot the Wii is good for something!).
(woot the Wii is good for something) lolz
but sleight is about drawing attention to certain parts.
seriously the best mental magician ever is derren brown. go on and search him up.
"Drawing attention to certain parts."

Thats what she said.
no it was actually me. drawing attention to the 'parts'.
zOMG you damn sexual lobster, their are young kids (like me) reading this!!
I'll just answer for DJ seeing how he follows a certain pattern.
"I don't care"
Now, quickly, everyone like him for it!
Damn.  You're on to me.
 FAIL.
I read in a book a few years back about how to do it without letting go at all.  I forgot the method however.
Chances are it was either by folding your arms or it didn't exist. It's impossible to do otherwise. You can tangle the string I found out but it isn't actually a knot.
I happen to know another way to do the trick without the gimmick
dude that cools its is hard man i tryed fo weeks
i love magic and this is a really simple trick
