Introduction: Tiny Bungee Net for RC Trucks
I needed a bungee net to hold down the scale details on my 1/18th scale RC Land Rover Defender, but didn't want to spend $20 on one, and then I realized that hair ties are just tiny bungee cords!
Supplies
For mine, I used:
3 Goody long hair ties.
8 7mm jewelry jump rings, but any stiff wire can be shaped into rings or hooks.
2 hemostats for opening and closing the jump rings, or shaping the wire into hooks.
Step 1: Attach the First Two Hair Ties
Lay the first hair tie on the table. Then lay the second hair tie over the first, and pull each through the other, and pull them tight.
Step 2: Add the Third Hair Tie
Repeat the above step, adding the third hair tie. It's easier done than said, but you have to pull the first two hair ties through the loop of the third. It'll make more sense when you're actually doing it
Step 3: Add Jump Rings or Hooks
I didn't need to be able to quickly remove my net from the truck, so I used jump rings to attach it to the rack. If you use them, make sure to open the rings by bending the ends sideways. From the side, it should still look like a circle. If you pull it apart, it'll never close right. If you want to remove the net easily, hooks can be made from stiff wire, even a paperclip. If you use jump rings, it's much easier to put the net on the rack, and then slide all the boxes, tents, tarps, zombies, coolers, and kitchen sinks under it from the front or back.
And now it's done! I found everything I needed for this without leaving my bedroom, at a cost of $0!
